Colonialism has made its mark on many places throughout the world. Historically, Britain has at times, exploited indigenous cultures and raped the land of it’s resources in order to strengthen its empire. Today, traces of a colonial past still exist. I live in a province named British Columbia and a country that pays royalties to the monarchy.  In some ways I am privileged to have inherited British ancestry, but at the same time I carry the burden of it’s history.  It is far too easy, to racially classify people and put them in them in their respected boxes.
